There are numerous presentations and opportunities in which a Memory Matters staff member can visit and educate your business, organization, community, civic group, or church members. The presentations include, "Who is Memory Matters", Building a Better Brain", "Brain Healthy Eating", and "Dementia Sensitivity Training." We also attend Health Fairs and various other events.

For Healthcare Professionals, the most popular course is Dementia Dialogues in which Memory Matters staff teaches.

Dementia Dialogues

Dementia Dialogues (R) offers expert guidance for professional and lay caregivers. The FREE course is five two-hour sessions developed and licensed by the University of South Carolina. Basic funding comes from a grant by the Department of Health and Human Services through the Office for the Study of Aging, and USC’s Arnold School of Public Health.

Dementia Dialogues can only be presented by certified instructors. Memory Matters does not receive any funds to present this program to the community; our presenters’ salaries are underwritten by our generous donors.

Continuing education credits of 1.5 hours per course are offered for professionals.

Dementia Sensitivity Training

Since 2015, Memory Matters has taught more than 1,500 Hilton Head Island and Bluffton employees a very important and free program called Dementia Sensitivity Training. It is training that teaches employees how to recognize signs and symptoms of customers or clients who might be dealing with cognitive impairment. It is catered to each specific business and provides scenarios employees may encounter. In addition, the training teaches how to be sensitive to customers or family members dealing with cognitive impairment, offer suggestions and support, and be ambassadors for memory care intervention.
