Many Board Members have been directly affected by dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, or another form of cognitive impairment. Meet Our Board

Kelley Jewett
President | Business Executive
Kelley Jewett is a Regional Business Director for Sales in the Southeast for a healthcare company, with more than 35 years of experience in sales, marketing, and leadership. A Hilton Head Island resident for over 20 years, Kelley has been involved with Memory Matters for five years, serving as Secretary, Vice President, and President of the Board. Her professional expertise and longstanding commitment help guide the organization’s strategic growth.

John Weymouth
Vice President | Retired Engineering Executive
John Weymouth retired to Hilton Head Island in 2001 following a global career as a manufacturing executive in the chemical industry, with professional experience spanning Australia, Asia Pacific, and the United States. He has long supported local nonprofit organizations, serving on the boards of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry and Neighborhood Outreach Connection. John began volunteering with Memory Matters in 2006, served on the Board from 2008 to 2014, and returned in 2022—motivated by personal experiences with family members living with memory loss.

Cheolsu Shin, MD
Secretary | Retired Neurologist
Dr. Cheolsu Shin is a retired neurologist who previously practiced at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He relocated to Bluffton in 2020 with his wife, an accomplished painter. Dr. Shin continues to serve the community through volunteer work with Volunteers in Medicine for Greater Bluffton and Jasper County, bringing invaluable clinical insight to the Memory Matters Board.

Jim Allhusen
Retired Visa Business Executive
Jim Allhusen has been a Hilton Head Island resident since 2013, following a global executive career in banking and payments, including senior leadership roles with Visa Inc. across the U.S., Asia Pacific, and Canada. He remains actively engaged in volunteer board service in the Lowcountry, including leadership roles with the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry and the MUSC Foundation. Jim is the proud father of five children and grandfather to thirteen, and values giving back to the community he calls home.

Everett Hill
Former Private Equity Operating Partner
Everett Hill is a seasoned CEO, Operating Partner, and former corporate executive with deep experience in organizational transformation. He has led value-creation initiatives across multiple industries, helping leadership teams strengthen strategy, execution, and operational performance. Everett holds engineering and business degrees from Princeton and Harvard and brings decades of governance and community service experience to the Memory Matters Board.

Julie Martin
Hilton Grand Vacations
Julie Martin is a marketing executive with Hilton Grand Vacations, bringing expertise in brand strategy, customer engagement, and hospitality marketing to the Memory Matters Board. She is passionate about golf and travel and enjoys spending time with her husband, Rob, and their furry family—Teak, Trevor, and Sandy. Julie also prioritizes an active, healthy lifestyle through regular workouts and long walks on the beach.

Elizabeth 'Betsy' Mintz
Finance & Human Resources Executive
Elizabeth “Betsy” Mintz is a results-driven financial operations leader with more than 25 years of experience improving fiscal processes, managing risk, and supporting organizational sustainability. Her background includes leading cross-functional teams, strengthening financial reporting, and implementing strategic financial and enterprise software solutions. Betsy brings a practical, disciplined approach to financial stewardship that supports long-term growth and impact.

Jeffrey Meyers
Retired Insurance Executive
Jeffrey Meyers joined the Memory Matters Board in 2025, bringing a background in engineering, finance and marketing. His commitment to the mission is deeply personal, shaped by the experience of family members living with dementia. Jeff and his wife, Orysia, have called Hilton Head Island home since 2016 and are proud to support Memory Matters’ impact in the community.

Anna Ponder, MD
Retired Vice Chancellor for Advancement, USCB
Dr. Anna Ponder has held senior leadership roles across philanthropy, institutional finance, and nonprofit organizations, with more than 25 years of experience building and strengthening mission-driven institutions. Her career includes leadership positions with the Robin Hood Foundation, Tudor Investment Corporation, the Tribeca Film Institute, and several universities, where she led fundraising, organizational growth, and strategic initiatives. Dr. Ponder now resides in the Lowcountry and remains actively engaged in community leadership and philanthropy, bringing a global perspective and commitment to impact to her service on the Memory Matters Board.

Donna Rand
Retired Sales & Marketing Executive
A resident of Hilton Head Island for 18 years, Donna is a retired sales and marketing professional whose career included leadership roles with Xerox and MCI. Her dedication to Memory Matters is rooted in her personal experience as a caregiver for her husband, who passed away from Alzheimer’s disease in 2018.

Bill Smith
Retired 3M Executive
Bill Smith began his career as a high school teacher and coach before transitioning to the corporate sector, where he spent 34 years with 3M in sales, marketing, and executive leadership roles. His professional background provides deep experience in team development, strategy, and organizational leadership. After retiring, Bill made Hilton Head Island his permanent home, and his commitment to Memory Matters is driven by personal experiences with family members living with memory loss.
